Anaphylaxis Ireland mission is supporting those living with severe allergies. The objectives of Anaphylaxis Ireland are to:
• Raise awareness amongst those at risk and the public

Anaphylaxis Ireland is run entirely by a small team of volunteers in their spare time. Funding is on the basis of voluntary contributions and fund raising events. The primary service offered by Anaphylaxis Ireland on a day-to-day basis is a telephone help-line. Given the small and voluntary part-time nature of the resources, Anaphylaxis Irelands level ongoing activities is necessarily relatively limited and we ask people to appreciate this.

But there is a National Asthma Programme, approved in 2011, so our priority is and will be to advocate for its full implementation. We will continue to push for better services and care management and for initiatives at a national level to address the high cost of asthma care for people with asthma and their families.

Maria Lucia Bakes is run by Maria Betts and her passion for healthy, home baked food goes way back to her childhood growing up in Glendalough, Co. Wicklow, where her family had a tearooms, guesthouse and antique shop. Everything they served was home baked by Maria’s mother in her Stanley range from soda breads, scones, cakes, biscuits, jams and her famous homemade lemonade.
Delicious homemade granola is Maria’s favourite food and she has been making variations of it for many years. Recently, a friend with a gluten intolerance stayed with her and they spent a whole day, experimenting and trying out new flavours, tasting lots of ingredients until they created the very best granola recipes. She gave some granola to her coeliac friend and within days the word spread and people were asking Maria to make it for them. Like her Mum, Maria’s hobby has now turned into her business. Cottage Pride was the brainchild of Thomas Lonsdale Brownlee in late 1980’s and created by his daughter Margaret Brownlee. Thomas Brownlee had a vision of using local produce that could be free from preservatives. Using an old apple peeling store on the family farm Margaret proceeded to establish Cottage Pride using traditional techniques making small batches of her products in saucepans the old fashioned way. At the time most preserve companies were using industrial vats and Margaret believed smaller batches would make for a higher quality across the board for her products. Her father had a raspberry plantation, damson and plum orchards which naturally became her first products. Local to her rhubarb was grown in bog soil giving the fruit wonderful moisture and also packing it full of natural minerals. So began Cottage Pride until it reached the point where it is today with fifteen products including the Brownlee’s Handmade Preserves range.

Moditions®, is a completely gluten-free wholesale bakery that began in the countryside outside the twin villages of Kells & Connor in County Antrim in late 2013. With their entire range gluten free, Moditions® is one of the few bakeries in Northern Ireland with the ability to make the important ‘no risk of cross-contamination’ claim.
In August 2014, just a few months after their launch, Moditions® were honoured to receive a prestigious Great Taste Gold Award for their Coffee & Walnut Cake with the judges comments as “Looks like a nice farm shop cake, with a lovely aroma, good texture and nice give. Gluten free or not – the judges enjoyed this product and say it is a good bench mark for all cakes.”

Newgrange Gold was set up by John Rogers and his son Jack Rogers on their farm in Slane, which looks across the river Boyne at Newgrange, Co. Meath. In 2010, they set about growing and pressing Rapeseed oil on their farm and since then have moved on to flavoured rapeseed oil and Camelina oil.
Camelina oil is from the plant Camelina Sativa and is often know as “Wild Flax”. It is very high in omega 3 (38.6g/100ml) (3 times more than rapeseed ) has lots of antioxidants, long shelf life and a high smoke point (240C). Camnelina has a light nutty, earthy taste.
Newgranage Gold rapeseed and Camelina oils are available in Tesco, Dunnes and Supervalu and specialty independents.

Sean & Connor Morgan started Oh So Lean initially because Connor wanted to lose weight! The slimming club he joined had sausages and burgers as part of his diet but these had to be made to specific requirements.
Sean set about making these for Connor and before long had a variety to choose from. Connor’s desire to help others on the same weight lose journey led to Oh So Lean, a nationwide delivery service coming about.
